The Class is a narrative nonfiction book chronicling a year inside the classroom of a visionary high school science teacher and his students — and the quiet, radical ways education can change lives.

Immersive reporting and storytelling

To write the book, I embedded myself for a full academic year inside the classroom, observing daily life and building trust with both the teacher and students.

The goal was to render the classroom experience with intimacy and precision, allowing readers to understand not only academic ambition, but the personal hopes, fears, and pressures shaping these young lives.

I also produced this video book trailer, which is featured on the Amazon product page for THE CLASS.

Narrative scope and resonance

The Class weaves individual student stories into a broader portrait of education, ambition, and social mobility in America — balancing close character work with larger cultural questions.

Recognition & outcomes

– Selected as one of Barnes & Noble’s 50 Discover Great New Writers titles (chosen from over 1,000 submissions)

– Praised by The Washington Post and The Wall Street Journal

– Optioned by Disney+ for television adaptation
